The General English language course offered by RBS ELC is an integrated program for adults who are learning English as a foreign language. The aim of the program is to enable students who do not have sufficient English language skills to understand and use this language appropriately in social and professional settings. The program is suited for participants with all levels of initial  knowledge of English. Teaching methods depend on the level of the course but you will have 2 instructors every class: one for the reading part and the other for the grammar part of the course.

How to apply?

To help us give you the best level match, we ask you to take the  English language proficiency test (this includes a test and an interview) before you register. Press here to sign up for the test!

Registration for the interview is right after the test. Interviews are usually organized on the next working day after the test. During the interview a member of the English Language Center faculty will further assess your language skills, comment on your test result and offer you a course that suits your level of English and interests. Tests, interviews and classes are held at 11 Skolas Str, Riga.

Course fees

Study books and supplementary materials are included in the fee and the fees can be paid in installments

Certificate

After every semester a participant receives a certificate that entitles him/her to study at the next level. In order to receive a certificate you must::

• successfully meet all course requirements,
• attend at least 75% of the classes.

General English course with vouchers from State Employment Agency! 

In cooperation with the State Employment Agency RBS English Language Center now offers its high quality General English courses through the Lifelong Learning Programme.  The programme is open for currently employed adults and covers up to 250 LVL towards tuition fee. To benefit from the programme obtain a  voucher from the State Employment Agency (’NVA kupons’), take a placement test at RBS ELC and register for the course!

Employed and self-employed adults (except civil servants) can participate in the program if they:

• Are at least 25 years old;
• Are employed or self-employed;
• have not previously participated in professional, re-qualification, professional development or informal education programs organized by the State Employment Agency or participated in these programs at least 12 months ago or earlier;
• have not completed studies under this project or under ESF project “Professional training for persons under unemployment risk” within the last two years.
