Innovations – adding sustainability to enterprises

Students from the first group of students in the Mini MBA in innovation program delivered by the Investment and Development Agency of Latvia (LIAA) and RTU Riga Business School (RBS) presented their final pitches.

"Today, the emphasis on testing the real-life potential of innovation is growing, consultation with potential clients is done to get feedback as early as possible. Today's business environment shifts rapidly and companies need new management approaches that ensure they can produce a prototype of a product as quickly and effectively as possible, enabling a company to get feedback on its assumptions when developing a product." says RBS director Jānis Grēviņš.

In order to promote innovation, the growth of enterprises, and the sustainability of enterprises, LIAA in cooperation with RBS are sharing business training for entrepreneurs.
In the first mini MBA call mid and high level managers from 20 different enterprises, such as Tilde, LETA, Lattelecom, Eco Baltia vide, Files.fm, Cenos, Tele2, Edurio, Orkla Confectionary & Snacks Latvija participated.

The aim of this training is to emphasize the importance of innovation in organizations by providing participants with practical experience in developing new products and services. This training will promote teamwork, experimental thinking and will get participants out of their comfort zone and challenge their previous beliefs about what they and their organizations are capable to create and achieve.
All 20 students received diplomas, and they will be able to apply their knowledge in their daily work. 3 graduates - Agnese Veckalne (Edurio Latvia), Ieva Gaile (LETA) un Mihails Ščepanskis (Cenos) – received a special jury award for high performance in presenting their idea.

Reinis Ornicāns, LowTech: “This program helped me to develop and improve my product from different aspects to be offered to the consumer - from the cost structure, the correct calculation of production volumes and up to the most appropriate marketing events. And what’s most important – what I learned is not only theoretical, it has been shared by specialists in the field and managers of various businesses.”

Agnese Veckalne, Edurio Latvia: “This program is a fantastic opportunity to develop your "business thinking" - industry experts provide a meaningful insight into a wide range of business aspects, practical work allows the participant to try and consolidate what she learned. Unique and extremely valuable experience!”

Liena Skadiņa, Orkla Confectionery & Snacks Latvija: “The business training course helped me learn and get practical experience in attracting, evaluating and developing innovations in order to promote the company's growth. The course is intensive, it includes lectures, seminars and practical tasks, providing valuable insights into the key elements of innovation management. I highly appreciate the attraction of foreign lecturers in this course and the fact that participants of the course are representatives of various industries that can promote the development of new business ideas. The knowledge will be useful in running Laima's chocolate museum and in activating the marketing department, developing new, creative and competitive solutions and attracting new audiences.”

Upon completion of this course, participants will have a better understanding of how to provide higher added value through the creation and development of innovative products and/or services and will have access to practical tools that might be used in real-life situations.

The second application deadline is until February 11.
