International Foundation Programme of the University of London

 

The only approved teaching institution in the Baltic States with the right to implement the International Foundation Programme of the University of London beings its work!

In October 2018, the RTU Riga Business School was granted the status of a Recognised Teaching Institution and the University of London’s permission to implement the International Foundation Programme.

What is the International Foundation Programme at the RTU Riga Business School? 

This is a unique opportunity to study a foundation course for entry into any British university, many universities in Europe, USA and Australia competing on equal terms with the graduates of British secondary schools (A-levels) and IB programmes. Talented high school students will be able to combine studying on the IFP programme with studying in high school. This way, students will be educated to meet the highest academic standards while living at home.

Tatiana Ginzburg, Director of the University Preparation Center: ‘The programme and study materials have been developed by the academics of the University of London, who also prepare and check final exams. This combined with strict admission and examinations requirements, allows us to be absolutely sure of the high academic quality of the programmes and objectivity of the results. The official permission from the University of London to teach this programme is a kind of quality mark!’

Students of the programme are expected to learn and pass exams in four subjects: Mathematics and Statistics; Economics, Sociology, International Relations. Students should anticipate spending150 study hours for each subject. In addition, Academic English will be taught.

Students who plan to apply to British or American universities will be consulted on the necessary application steps. For those wishing to study at RBS, part of the 1st year subjects will be credited towards the BBA degree.

Entry requirements:

  • Aged 17 or over (till 31 December 2018)
  • IELTS 6.0;
  • Maths test (at RBS, 17 November 2018)
  • Interview (at RBS, October - November 2018)

 

The selection of candidates will begin in October 2018, and training – in January 2019 .

The University of London and the RTU Riga Business School

The University of London was founded in 1836 and consists of 18 colleges and 9 specialised institutes. The RTU Riga Business School was founded in 1991 and offers undergraduate programmes in management, English language courses for adults, pre-university English programmes for secondary school students and candidates for RBS as well as services of the testing centre.

What is a foundation programme?

Foundation is a programme that UK universities offer to foreign applicants from countries where secondary education differs from the British one. As a rule, this is a one-year programme after the successful completion of which a young person becomes a student of this particular university. Apart from universities, the Foundation Year Programmes are also offered by for-profit education companies (Kaplan, EF, etc.)

What is the University of London’s International Foundation Programme (UoL IFP)?

IFP is a programme for high school graduates developed by the prestigious University of London. Unlike the regular Foundation Programme, its graduates can use the certificate when entering any British university as well as many universities in Europe, USA and Australia competing on equal terms with the graduates of British high schools (A-levels) and IB programmes.
