RBS Director’s Address

Dear graduates, faculty, staff, friends and supporters,

Later this year Latvia will celebrate its 100th Anniversary. During this period, in addition to advancing their careers and organizations, many leaders and managers consciously supported efforts in many arenas that made significant institutional contributions to the advancement of Latvia.

The Riga Business School’s mission, when it was established, was to support and enhance this development of leaders and managers for the benefit of Latvia. Last year RBS began an ambitious project to explore new, and even more effective ways, for the School to prepare future leaders for Latvia in this quickly changing global environment. RBS, like a number of leading international institutions of higher education, recognizes the importance of critical thinking, the ability to communicate effectively across diverse cultures, the ability to solve complex problems through diverse teamwork, the importance of ethics in effective management, and the use and exploration of big data, as necessary pre-requisites for successful careers in all industries and functional areas. Utilizing various programmatic approaches, and by including supportive extracurricular activities, RBS is introducing these themes and practices in all of our programs.

In the year of Latvia’s centennial anniversary, I encourage graduates, students, faculty and their friends to use this new knowledge and experience and think of ways of how to expand your involvement in activities and causes that can benefit the country and society. While this involvement may not provide immediate personal financial reward, these activities will foster the development of an environment that we can all be proud of. Let’s do it!

With the best wishes for your success,

Sincerely yours,

Janis Grevins, Ph.D
