At the same time an agreement was reached during the visit to expand the cooperation, opening new RBS dual degree program with the BI Norwegian Business School. In 24 November RBS will organise a webinar in its Facebook and YouTube platforms to tell more about the dual degree options provided in cooperation with the Norwegian Business School.

Starting from next year RBS students will be able to obtain a dual degree in the Data Science for Business program that is centred on the technology-based career in business.Program is especially developed considering the growth of big data technologies to satisfy the demand of companies for experts and managers in this area.

In 2012 RBS signed a dual degree agreement with the BI Norwegian Business School, which is one of the best universities in Europe and the best business school in Norway. Within the framework of the agreement already 26 students have obtained the dual degree in the business administration from RBS and BI Norwegian Business School. Currently four RBS students are studying in the Norwegian capital Oslo who used an opportunity as students of RBS to spend their third study year at the BI Norwegian Business School as one of the two cooperation universities for obtaining the dual degree. Second option is to study business administration at the University of Buffalo.

Currently students of RBS spend one year in Oslo where they have a possibility to major in finances, shipping management and international business administration.

RBS Bachelor Programs Director Claudio Rivera:

“We have come to the point where the labour market is of great necessity of experts who understand the business processes and big data development basics at the same time. Considering the technologies currently available to us, companies can make increasingly more accurate decisions if they are able to process big data. This is the main target of the program and alumni will become both – big data analytics and business administrators. RBS has defined its strategy with the main leitmotiv being promotion of leadership in the technology driven world. Already now we are developing education for the growth of our current and future students as we know that through our students we can forward this growth also to the society. RBS international cooperation with the best educational establishments and organisations in the world allows us to bring new experience and knowledge to Latvia. We bring to Latvia educational programs that would matter both today and tomorrow, thus implementing ideas with a long-term impact on the society.”

BI Norwegian Business School Special Adviser in International Relations Feite van Dijk:

“Our cooperation is truly productive. During the last 10 years talented and ambitious students from RBS have completed one year studies with us and obtained their second bachelor’s degree. Acquired dual degree – one from RBS and the second from BI Norwegian Business School – is very attractive to companies both in Norway and Latvia. We are optimistically looking forward to continue developing our cooperation.”

Latvian Embassy in Norway Counsellor of Economic Affairs, Head of the Representative Office in Norway Evita Nedzvecka:

“I would like to express gratitude to RBS for the successful cooperation throughout these years. Decision on yet another dual degree program in cooperation with the BI Norwegian Business School is a very powerful acknowledgment of the RBS quality.”
