Social Entrepreneurship Arrives at the BBA Program

Prof. Aldis Greitāns and Teaching Assistant Luīze Jansone will have an exciting challenge in Spring 2018. They will bring one of the most recent and promising trends in business to our BBA students:

SOCIAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP

Starting January 2018, our BBA students will learn and practice core consulting skills while delivering social impact by contributing to the success of a real social business.

Students will be divided into teams, and each team will develop a project working closely with a social enterprise – member/partner of Social Entrepreneurship Association of Latvia. Relevant and well-known companies will be part of this experience as Otra elpa, Humusa, Poga.

Why “Social”? Social entrepreneurship is on the rise in Latvia. Recently a Social Entrepreneurship law was passed coming in action in 2018, development finance institution Altum provides 12 million euros in grants to support social businesses.

Why “Consulting”? Consulting is an integral part of most businesses, and skilled consultants are valuable assets. Learning useful consulting skills – complex problem solving, team management, persuasion and negotiation will come in handy in any business setting.

We wish our faculty, students, and partners good luck as they embark on this great journey!
