Introduction to Mathematics and Mathematical Reasoning

FOR THE 10th AND 11th FORMS

Introduction to Mathematics and Mathematical Reasoning is a course designed to refresh and systematise  the students’ knowledge of elementary and secondary school mathematics,  as well as to develop and enhance their mathematical skills and understanding in preparation for the University of London International Foundation Programme entrance examination. The students will be encouraged to apply mathematical methods both in standard problems and in less typical situations.

FOR THE 12th FORM

Pre-University Mathematics

The RBS Pre-University Mathematics course is aimed at students of non-mathematical profile high schools who plan
their university studies to be in the areas of natural sciences, ICT, economics and finance, business and management,
and engineering. It will prepare senior high school students (year 12) for the advanced mathematics course they will
be taking in their college level studies. It will also help to expand their mathematical vocabulary in English required
for studies in an English language environment.
The course includes topics from the new syllabus of advanced level mathematics in the national programme of Latvia,
introduction to some areas of college mathematics, as well as reinforcement of topics from the current school
programme.
The course is built around the following topics:
  • Vectors and Analytical Geometry in 2 and 3 Dimensions
  • Complex Numbers
  • Functions and Graphing
  • Elements of Differential and Integral Calculus
