Riga Business School receives International Quality Accreditation (IQA) from CEEMAN

Riga Business School (RBS) is the first state owned business school in Latvia to receive IQA, an accreditation certification developed by Central European Management Development Association (CEEMAN).

Following a year long self assessment process and peer review in early June, RBS has received unconditional accreditation for a five-year period. Official certificate of the accreditation was presented to Dr. Janis Grevins during the annual CEEMAN meeting in St. Petersburg, Russia.

RBS director Jānis Grēviņš commented on the accreditation:
”I am pleased and gratified by this accreditation. This brings us one large step closer to achieving our dual goals of being the premier centre for business education in the Baltics and being able to effectively compete with Western business schools. We at RBS have worked very hard to meet and exceed the high standards required to achieve international accreditation. This award shows that the work of the many people involved was of the highest quality and that quality is reflective of the efforts of every one at our school”

As the peer team responsible for accreditation remarked in its report: ”RBS was one of the first educational institutions in the region providing market-based management education in a turbulent market. Through the qualified international and local faculty and attention to practice oriented teaching, RBS is serving social need in educating professional managers for the Latvian economy.”

It has been a long way for RBS – one of the first business schools in the Baltics. RBS was established by Riga Technical University in cooperation with the State University of of New York at Buffalo (UB) USA and the University of Ottawa (Canada) in the same year that Latvia regained it’s independence .In June of 2004 RBS celebrated its 10th graduation. Leaders of the Latvian business elite were greeted by the President of the Republic of Latvia- Vaira Vike Freiberga. President Vike Freiberga spoke at the graduation and said that she highly prizes the work done by RBS in the field of higher education and in preparing the top managers needed by Latvia.

These accomplishments are the result of the work done by many people – RBS faculty, students and staff, national and international friends and supporters. On this festive occasion RBS wants to thank its many stakeholders for their continuous and sincere support!
