Searching the Internet - Structured and Unstructured

Do you find searching the Internet easy? On November 13, RBS University Preparation Centre invites you to attend the first guest lecture of this academic year. Dr. Kalvis Apsītis will talk about most effective and efficient ways of looking for information on the Internet. 
In a dozen practical exercises with your smartphone, you will try out both easy and sublime ways to search the Internet with Google and other tools. You will solve puzzles, find sources for half-forgotten quotes, create references for your student papers. You can use Google search box for your own tasks confidently, get to some interesting stuff and avoid irrelevant results.

About guest lecturer:

Kalvis Apsītis (Computer Science). Ph.D. University of Maryland. He has experience in software engineering, academic and non-academic teaching. He has worked in some large IT companies such as Accenture, Blue Coat (Symantec) and Websense (Forcepoint). He has done courseware development, certification procedures and training delivery in diverse areas of mathematics, computer science, programming and IT security. As a part-time activity he is involved in training high-school students to participate in mathematical olympiads including International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO) and Baltic Way.
